The Filmmakers

In 2002 Alistair McGlashan and Ron Croft met while on a fishing/filming trip with Modern Fishing’s editor Daniel Tillack on the Great Barrier Reef. Hitting it off immediately, Alistair and Ron started to toy with the idea of producing a series of high quality fishing DVD’s.

Even though Ron managed to catch a bigger cobia than Alistair on that trip the seed was planted and over a few drinks Strikezone Media came to life. Ron with his exceptional skills behind the camera coupled with Alistair’s extensive fishing knowledge and ‘cruisy’ presentation style makes for an ideal partnership.

When it came to making Strikezone unique the boys came up with the idea of developing a camera that they could troll and film baits and lures. ‘Strikecam’ as it is affectionately called suddenly gave viewers a fisheye view and proved an instant hit with anglers and even scientists right around the world.

As Alistair says ‘Strikecam has shown us what really goes on underwater and many of the things we thought happened are way off the mark’. In the short time Strikecam has been running the boys have filmed lots of never before seen footage of pelagic predators stalking and attacking baits and lures. ‘It really is an eye opener and is guaranteed to make you rethink the way you fish’, adds Ron.

The single most important thing is that Alistair and Ron are obsessive anglers and like nothing more than catching all the excitement of fishing on film. ‘We will do the hard work so you can enjoy all the action from your living room’, laughs Alistair. There are some exciting times ahead as the boys plan to put more and more time in on the water capturing the best sportfishing action around. So if you see them on the water pull up and say G’day!
